A Baby, or Not and A Casting Call

We went to a little impromptu dinner party last night and I saw a woman I met back in January and haven't seen since. She asked me how old my child was now and I answered her back, "2 years old." She had a very puzzled look on her face. She then gave me a very sweet backhanded compliment, "oh, you weren't pregnant when I met you? You've lost weight." I was both mortified, happy and speechless at the same time. Whatever. I have lost weight, I just didn't have a baby to do it.

For those of you who are interested, I came across this today.

Casting Call: NBC's The Biggest Loser will host an 11-city search for contestants to appear on season seven. For this edition, producers want pairs from family members and spouses to dating couples, co-workers and best friends. All candidates must be at least 18 years old and legal U.S. citizens. The audition cities include: Louisville, Oklahoma City, New York City, Detroit, Denver, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, Charlotte, Miami and Los Angeles. Those auditioning in person must bring a non-returnable photo of themselves and their partner. The show's casting team guarantees the first 500 applicants in line will be seen in each casting city. For more information or if you cannot attend one of the 11 casting calls, visit www.nbc.com/casting .

Man, you encounter some rude people! She may have meant that as a compliment, but goodness...
On another note, I wouldn't mind trying out for Biggest Loser. However, I would not want to wear those sport bra things the women have to wear. I mean, why can't they wear sleeveless shirts like the guys? Why do they have to bare their stomachs? I would not want to do that.

That is extremely RUDE! wow I can't even address her rudeness.

My hubby totally would love to do that show. Though I don't think he has enough to lose to win LOL! NOw me on the other hand. I could rock it! But be terrified in the process.

How awkward! I wouldn't, though, say that the woman was necessarily rude. I think she accidentally put her foot in her mouth and couldn't find a graceful way out of it. Still, it doesn't change the fact that you felt smacked by it. So sorry!

nice. the same thing happened to me....a met a deaf person at my church one time. she took my email address....and sent me a lovely email of congratulations on my pregnancy.....i kindly explained that i wasnt prego. she seemed so embarassed and i felt really bad. i have at this point decided that if anyone ever asks me that again...i'll tell them im 8 months prego...or i'll say "wow, youre really brave asking a chubby girl if she's pregnant."

at least you look Post baby now!

I would call that compliment more "backhanded" and less "sweet". Wow. Rude.

wow. Ah well, if you can see the good in it, then I guess it's not too bad. But... speechless here.
